Physician, dean, university vice president, university president Samuel Richardson Hill was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, on 19 May 1923. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Duke University and his M.D. from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University. Hill originally came to the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1954.
